This workbook is the result of 20 years' experience of teaching `Introduction to Paper Conservation and Restoration', now called `Conservation and Restoration of Graphic Works-1' in the new syllabus of the BA in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at Universitat Politècnica de València. It summarises the activities that students should undertake to build-up their understanding of the behaviour and degradation of paper-based objects, as well as to develop the critical thinking needed for their treatment and long-term preservation. This workbook is not just a description of exercises, but also contains the theoretical foundations necessary for the development of the exercises and the acquisition of the expected competences in paper conservation. The activities proposed here are related to the theoretical content that will run in parallel with the workshop sessions. Finally, the book provides an important corpus of bibliographical references to complement each activity.
