The technique known as high-resolution anoscopy (HRA) was developed in England in the late 1980s for the examination of the anus. Afterapplication of acetic acid, a colposcope is used by physicians toexplore the anal mucosa.In contrast to colposcopy, physicians wanting to learn the HRAtechnique come up against serious diffi culties due to a notable lackof resources.The goal in publishing this atlas is to provide practitioners with asource that off ers a rapid overview of the technique, along withaccessible, up-to-date information. Th is atlas contains abundantillustrations providing key information in a readily understandableformat.It is structured around three major sections: 1) clear and concisetext, 2) real full-colour images, and 3) videos, since, in ouropinion, the incorporation of visual information assists speedylearning, particularly in the case of a medical procedure.This atlas is also available in a digital version:www.anoscopyhighresolution.com.
