Modelling in general and simulation in particular have come also along way to become a necessary tool in the analysis of many differentreal situation, as demonstrated by the different applications thatwere shown in the conference, ranging from the common ones in thefields of economics and engineering to the new areas of environmentalsciences, including one in fire behaviour in mountains. The quality of the works that were presented at the conferences boosted us to editthis book including new ideas of modelling and simulation in economics since this is the basic subject that is addressed in our campus. Thefocus has to be in the applications of modelling both in the publicand the private sector that add a new view on how these techniquesmight be applied in the social sciences in general...
